Bird spikes for ledges, window sills and roofs

Spike strips project upward from a rigid base to occupy the contact line where birds try to land. When a pigeon, sparrow, woodpecker or crow approaches a window sill, roof edge, gutter, fence railing or balcony ledge, the angled wires or molded prongs break up the continuous line needed to fold wings and roost. Birds cannot set their feet down between the uprights, so they turn away to find other locations to roost or nest without the hardware making contact with their bodies.

Five base configurations divide this shelf. One group uses narrow 304 stainless steel wires set through flexible bases that flex along curved walls and railings. Another uses rigid ABS molding where the base and the prongs are molded as a single unit in frosted white. We also assemble steel wires directly into metal bases before packaging, while other runs provide loose wire sets that push through mounting holes in clear or dark strips to fit specific ledge depths.

Total linear footage dictates the run you select. Measure the full length of the window sill, gutter, wall top, balcony railing or sign edge from end to end, then check the width across the mounting face. Single runs cover depths up to 4 inches; wider ledges require two or three parallel lines of strips spaced 2 to 3 inches apart so birds cannot nest behind the back row. We package sections covering from 2.6 ft up to 134.6 ft to match straight runs without cutting extra base.

Materials match outdoor sun and moisture exposure across seasons. We run 304 stainless steel through bending operations to form the upright wire points, which resist weathering on open rooflines and gutters. The molded plastic bases and prongs undergo ABS molding in frosted white, black and brown to blend against painted window frames, patio railings and garden walls, while silver wires remain bare metal across long exterior spans.
